Global crude steel production of the 71 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (WSA) rose 0.6% from a year ago to 150 million tonnes in October, showed data from the WSA.
In October, the top ten crude steel producers were China, India, Japan, the U.S., Russia, South Korea, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and Iran.
China produced 79.1 million tonnes of crude steel in the month, down 1.8% year on year, and India's output rose 15.1% from a year ago to 12.10 million tonnes.
Japan saw a year-on-year growth of 2.6% in its crude steel production to 7.50 million tonnes in October. The output of the U.S. increased by 3.4% on the year to 6.80 million tonnes.
During the month, crude steel output in Russia was estimated to increase 9.5% from a year ago to 6.30 million tonnes. Crude steel output of South Korea rose 6.5% from the previous year to 5.50 million tonnes, while that of Germany declined 8.8% to 2.90 million tonnes, data showed.
Crude steel production in Turkey increased 4.2% year on year to 3.00 million tonnes, and that of Brazil declined about 10.2% on the year level to 2.6 million tonnes, while that of Iran rose 3.5% on the year to 3.10 million tonnes.
In January to October, crude steel output worldwide witnessed a marginal year-on-year increase of 0.2% to 1.57 billion tonnes.
During the period, China, India, Japan, the U.S. and Russia respectively produced 875 million tonnes (+1.4% YoY), 116 million tonnes (+12.1% YoY), 72.9 million tonnes (-3.0% YoY), 67.4 million tonnes (-0.8 % YoY) and 63.5 million tonnes (+5.3% YoY).
Crude steel production in South Korea, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and Iran in first ten months this year totaled 55.9 million tonnes (+0.2% YoY), 30.1 million tonnes (-4.1% YoY), 27.5 million tonnes (-8.8% YoY), 26.5 million tonnes (-8.6% YoY) and 25.1 million tonnes (-0.1% YoY), respectively.
