Vietnam's coal imports (including those from foreign-invested enterprises) in October posted a strong rebound after three consecutive months of decline, preliminary customs data showed.
The country imported 3.62 million tonnes of coal during the month, up 40.23% from 2.58 million tonnes a year ago and up 11.04% from September's 3.26 million tonnes, data showed.
The data revealed that Vietnam's coal import value in October amounted to $495 million, increasing 11.48% year on year and 16.76% month on month.
Australia was the top supplier in the month, delivering 1.46 million tonnes, down 19.97% from a year earlier but up 32.38% on the month. Vietnam imported 1.41 million tonnes of coal from Indonesia, surging 169.52% on the year and up 14.71% month on month.
Russia delivered 180,700 tonnes of coal to Vietnam, up 9.39% year on year but slumping 62.06% month on month.
In the first ten months of 2023, Vietnam's accumulated coal imports were 41.37 million tonnes, showing a notable 54.59% increase from the preceding year.
Total value came in at $5.86 billion during the given period, down 5.81% on the year.
