Mongolia's coal exports totaled 52.04 million tonnes during the first ten months of 2023, surging 28.93 million tonnes or 125.23% year on year, according to the latest data from the Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA).
Total exports earned $7.05 billion during the same period, jumping 37.85% from the previous year.
MCGA didn't release the specific figures for October. Sxcoal calculated the shipments at 5.2 million tonnes based on the overall exports published by the administration.
The volume represented a notable growth of 27.2% or 1.11 million tonnes on the year, though falling 12.59% or 0.75 million tonnes on the month.
In October, the export amounts totaled $630 million, with the average price calculated at $121.22/t, down $27.33/t year on year but up $6.38/t month on month.
Mongolia exported 51.72 million tonnes of coal to China over January-October, soaring 139.87% from a year earlier, taking up 99% of the total.
In October, Mongolia exported 5.2 million tonnes of coal to China, up 28.69% year on year but down 12.59% month on month. The export earnings were valued at $630 million in October, with the average export price at $121.22/t, down $26.82/t from a year ago yet up $6.38/t from the preceding month.
Mongolia's exports of bituminous coal jumped 124.69% year on year to 51.4 million tonnes in January-October; and that of anthracite were 152,300 tonnes, up 21.97% from a year ago. Other coal exports came in at 492,300 tonnes, a substantial 360.12% spike compared to the year-ago level.
In October, Mongolia's bituminous coal exports were registered at 5.09 million tonnes, increasing 24.87% from the previous year but down 14.19% from a month earlier; exports of anthracite were 19,000 tonnes, compared to zero a year ago and skyrocketing 212.45% from September; and other coal exports were 93,000 tonnes, soaring 595.07% from a year earlier and 578.31% from the month before.
