Shuohuang railway, China's second-longest rail line that ships coal from northern production areas to ports in the Bohai Bay after Daqin railway, delivered 1.09 billion tonnes in 100,200 trains of 20,000-tonne level since its opening, the Economic Information Daily reported.
The railways, mainly operated by China Energy Investment Group, are responsible for three lines, namely Shuohuang, Huangwan and Huangda line.
It has been running 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains since first trial run in December 2012 and normal operation from March 2016. With a total length of 2.7 km or so, the heavy-haul train can load up to 17,280 tonnes of coal.
Shuohuang railway, started operation in 2005, transports more than 360 million tonnes of coal each year.
The rail line mainly delivers coal from Shuozhou station in northern China's Shanxi province to Huanghua port in Hebei, a key coal transfer hub in north China from where the fuel is reshipped to southern coastal consuming areas.
