China's transportation ministry opened a new channel for delivering coal from the north to south— the Jiangsu-Hebei Route on November 1, as marked by the opening ceremony for the event in Huanghua port in Cangzhou, north China's Hebei province.
The route serves as an important maritime transportation pathway connecting northern coal mining areas with southern major power consumption regions, and represents the first artery linked different sea areas in China's entire maritime system.
It spans over Bohai Sea, Huanghai Sea, Donghai Sea and Yangtze River, featured with complicated transportation situations such as long voyage and heavy transporting volume.
Both maritime administrations in Hebei and Jiangsu have agreed to provide nine measures including instant review services to guarantee high-efficiency operations of the line.
This channel constitutes an improvement to the full-chain mode of supply guarantee campaign for "North-to-South" coal shipment and aims to develop as a role model for safe and efficient energy goods shipment across the country.
The whole "North-to-South" coal delivery structure also includes railway lines such as Datong-Qinhuangdao, Taiyuan-Qingdao and Changzhi-Wuhan.
