The 1# and 2# bulk cargo berths of the coal terminal renovation project at a power company in southern China's Jiangxi province affiliated with CHN Energy, received the port operation permit on September 28, signifying the official inauguration of Jiangxi's first 10,000-tonne terminal, People's Daily reported.
Once operational, the terminal will be able to accommodate 10,000-tonne cargo ships, with the coal unloading capacity expected to increase from 1 million tonnes to 5.11 million tonnes per year.
This will effectively meet the production needs of enterprises, reduce coal unloading costs, and adapt to the trend of large-scale shipping development.
The project, located on the right bank of the Jiujiang Yangtze River Bridge, constructed a 10,000-tonne and a 5,000-tonne bulk cargo berths with a coastline length of 250 meters and an investment of approximately 280 million yuan. The designed annual throughput capacity reached 5.72 million tonnes, hitting a new high in Jiangxi.
Jiangxi's new 10,000-tonne terminal will enable direct docking of larger vessels and promote regional freight scale and efficiency, contributing to the more cost-effective and eco-friendly water transport.
