Northern China's coal-rich Shanxi province reiterated its determination to realize production growth of at least 5% this year to produce 1,365 million tonnes of coal, according to a recent press conference on the province's latest measures to steadily promote economic recovery and improvement.
The energy industry, especially coal industry, is the cornerstone for stable economy development in Shanxi, stressed by Hou Binrang, deputy director of the provincial Energy Bureau at the confernece held by the provincial government on September 26.
Coal production in Shanxi hit 898.02 million tonnes during the first eight months this year, up by 4.4% from the same period a year ago, showed data from the provincial statistical bureau.
The press conference also underscored the importance for maintaining coal prices within reasonable range and the government's focus on supervision over long-term contract fulfillment, providing reliable guarantees for coal demand in the coming winter period.
Meanwhile, Shanxi will also accelerate construction of outbound electricity transmission and improve network between main structure in the province and those in northern China. It said to work on an early start of construction for the 1,000-KV UHV AC transmission project from Datong to south Tianjin.
