Mongolia exported 596,200 tonnes of iron ore in January 2024, surging 65.34% or 235,600 tonnes from the same month last year, showed the latest data from the Mongolian Customs General Administration.
The volume was also 2.91% or 16,900 tonnes higher than the previous month, marking the second consecutive month of growth, data showed.
China remained the only destination of Mongolian iron ore exports in the month.
The total export earnings amounted to $47.39 million in January, with the average price calculated at $79.50/t, up $7.62/t or 9.58% on the year yet down $4.98/t or 6.26% on the month, data showed.
Mongolia totally exported 5.71 million tonnes of iron ore in the full year of 2023, rising 20.72% or 980,700 tonnes from the previous year.
