Coal stocks held by 34 power and heating plants directly supplied by China Railway Harbin Group stayed at a high level of 7.31 million tonnes as of November 8, enough for 50 days of usage on average, local media reported.
China Railway Harbin Group has been improving coal transportation efficiency to ensure sufficient coal supply to key end users in the run-up to the winter peak demand season.
During the first ten months this year, daily coal loading reached 4,682 rail wagons, marking a year-on-year increase of 12.1%.
Leveraging the coal-rich areas in eastern Inner Mongolia and making full use of the 'West-to-East" coal transportation advantage, the Yimin railway operated by the group saw transportation capacity increase by over 50% after expansion.
The company has also implemented measures at the Manzhouli, Suifenhe, and Tongjiang railway border crossings to strengthen transportation for imported coal.
The road-to-railway transportation efficiency has also been elevated.
As a result, the share of coal transported by railways operated by the group increased to 90% from 83% in 2022, further enhancing energy supply to the northeastern region.
