Southeast China's Guangdong Energy Group Co., Ltd., formerly known as Guangdong Yudean Group Co., Ltd., purchased more than 41 million tonnes of coal for power generation for this year up to October 30, said the provincial state assets regulator.
As the largest state-owned energy company in the southeastern economic hub, Guangdong Energy purchased 41.09 million tonnes of coal over January-October this year, up 3.5% from the same period last year.
The group generated a total 127.6 TWh of electricity by the end of October, up 6.7% from the same period last year, playing a vital role in ensuring power supply in the province.
To secure electricity supply, Guangdong Energy has been implementing a "precision inventory" mechanism for the long term, taking multiple measures to guarantee fuel supply, the regulator said.
Guangdong Energy is a key buyer of seaborne imported coal through tenders in China. It also buys a large bulk of domestic supplies via railway and waterway deliveries.
