China's power generation of all sources totaled 745.6 TWh in September, a 7.7% rise from a year earlier, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on October 18.
The year-on-year growth accelerated by 6.6 percentage points compared with that of August. Daily power generation averaged 24.85 TWh in September.
The output of thermal power, mostly coal-fired, totaled 497.3 TWh in September, up 2.3% year on year; hydropower jumped 39.2% to 139.4 TWh; wind power 49.8 TWh, down 1.6%; nuclear power 34.5 TWh, up 6.7%; solar power 24.6 TWh, up 6.8%, the NBS data showed.
During January-September, China's power generation totaled 6,621.9 TWh, a 4.2% rise from 2022.
Thermal power generation totaled 4,639.7 TWh in the first nine months this year, up 5.8% year on year; hydropower declined 10.1% to 858.4 TWh; wind power climbed 13.4% to 583.7 TWh; nuclear rose 6% to 322.8 TWh; and solar rose 11.3% to 217.3 TWh.
